Working with a mostly monochromatic colour palette, interspersed by colourful intersecting lines, Jim Dowie's unique artwork embodies the spirits of legends past and present. Though they at first glance appear random, the curving lines forming the background of Jim's pieces are actually carefully planned and constructed, adding a layer of intricate detail.

Jim's artistic origins are fascinating- he previously worked as a fingerprint expert in forensics, and the swirls which initially intrigued him in each fingerprint now form part of the inspiration behind his work, particularly within his signature lines.

Dowie then went on to study Typographic and Graphic Design, though he is predominantly self-taught when it comes to his art. He now creates his pieces from a 400 year-old country house in Staffordshire, and recently exhibited in Northern Italy.
