Award winning artist Becky Mair was born in Chatham, Kent. At the age of ten years her father moved abroad. Becky and her siblings then spent the next 15 years commuting between England and wherever her parents were living. In 1985 she did a Foundation Course at Canterbury College of Art. Becky then went to live and work in London. Becky Mair completed BA Honours degree in December 2004 at UCA Canterbury. In 2013 Becky won Best Selling Published Artist at the Art & Framing Industry Awards. Becky says that the unique style of Jackson Pollack “has inspired me to produce a fluid, energetic, representational reaction to his work”. Working mainly in acrylic paint, ink or domestic emulsion paint; Becky works directly from the tube or paint pot. Using a stick or tube to flick and direct the paint from a standing position over the paper or canvas. “With my work I am interested in expressing an impression of the subject matter its stature,energy and essence."
