Alessandro Paglia
Alessandro Paglia
Artist Alessandro Paglia enjoys exploring the life of an object, focusing on its story, the ingenuity of its creator and its personality. Most of his subjects are iconic, in terms of design history or popular culture, however his latest collection features popular cartoon characters presented in a whole new way. Alessandro’s striking ‘Midas Touch’ quartet have been created using a unique printing method: A hand embossing technique with a gold leaf finish. Due to the handmade nature of each piece there are slight differences to every character, this makes each edition highly collectable.
His originals are composed entirely by hand. Starting off with pen and cotton paper he builds layer upon layer of colour, comprising of vivid tones and vibrant textures. Paglia utilises intense inky blacks and the rough grain of the cotton and in turn is left with nuanced perfection. Each piece takes between 50 to 250 hours to create. The finished result is remarkable – a unique and innovative visual statement of genuine power.
