Born and raised in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, Leigh Lambert learnt to draw from a very young age. A self-taught artist, who hasn’t received any formal training, his works today are hugely sought-after. His limited editions sell out in weeks and there are waiting lists for those hoping to buy an original. Leigh’s work developed once he relocated with his family, this is when he realised his true appreciation for his home and his upbringing. Seen today as the core of his work, this once ugly concrete jungle in which he lived is now transformed in his paintings. His pieces have a strong sense of nostalgia, evoking fond memories of a youth that many can relate to. Working across a range of media, he works mainly in oils on board. His use of colour is minimal, applying splashes only to the figures that are to the forefront of his monochromatic landscapes, capturing the joy and vitality of youth.
