Nao McDowell is a London based artist that creates abstract paintings that interpret the radiancy of the environment around her.
She divides her time between coastal regions and the city, painting large and impactful canvases inspired by the beauty of orderly structures and patterns found within the natural world. Her distinctive style combines sculptural layering of oil paint, vibrant colours and unusual perspectives. Her palette choices are bold and have a sense of confidence, laying paints with a sensitivity beneath the surface of her work - her paintings have a strong underlying message and engage emotionally, express the love and appreciation of creation.
When Nao first embarked on a career as an artist, she would spend days at a time exploring London on a bicycle to capture interesting perspectives and views of the city’s intricate architecture with her camera and sketchbook. As her artistic talent grew she began to take inspiration from the wonders of nature, fascinated by the ordered colours and seemingly architectural lines occurring organically in nature. Her recent work reflects her passion for nature and features the coastline and landscapes of southern Britain
