Pop Art
Pop Art
Pop Art emerged after the second world war during the 1950s as a new art movement, peaking in Britain and across America in the 1960's. The movements name developed as artists explored imagery from popular culture within their work, creating vibrant and colourful work with mass appeal in response to post war austerity, with the bold glamour of commercial design and media culture, pursuing ideologies of optimistic dreams and positivity. Pop Artists rebelled against traditional forms of artwork, introducing new materials and techniques from the commercial world, screen printing became a cornerstone of the movement with the technique of layering block colours amongst collage and traditional painting techniques still popular amongst artists working and taking inspiration from the style today. The Rose Gallery work with fantastically talented artists that embrace the pop art style, you will find original artwork by Yuvi, Lhouette and Mr. Brainwash, with limited edition artwork from acclaimed artists Maxim, Harry Bunce and Mr Sly.
