Mr. Sly is a British mixed-media artist. Born in Liverpool he went on to travel the world, which in turn gave him a love of the varied and wonderful world of urban and street art. Calling himself an ‘Urban Pop Artist’ his bold graphic images offer a contemporary slant on 20th Century popular culture with a street art twist. He is inspired by many different things, including music, tv, films, historic and iconic figures. In particular, pop songs. His pieces tend to be related to a song or artist, sometimes both. This relationship is reflected through the lyrics and quotes layered on top of the artwork. Mr Sly takes these iconic figures from the past and places them front and centre, making him feel, he says, “as if they are living in a new age.” His new collection features two of our best loved cultural heroes, David Bowie and Kate Moss.
