Artist Spotlight: Joe Galindo

Bringing Bold, Expressive Wildlife Art to Our Walls

Many of our customers and collectors are looking for wildlife artists who offer something a little different, artists whose work stops you in your tracks. Joe Galindo is that kind of artist.

With his bold colours, vibrant movement, and engaging animal subjects, Joe’s work has an unmistakable energy that feels both accessible and rooted in the artist’s admiration for his subjects.

From Yorkshire Roots to a Global Creative Journey

Growing up in Mirfield, West Yorkshire, Joe’s passion for drawing began early, his professional journey beginning in his grandma’s spare room. There, he spent many years practising, painting Yorkshire landscapes and his own dog, Spotty, until he realised he could take on pet commissions to earn some money. Those early portraits seem to have laid the foundations for his defining subject: animals.

At 24, craving new inspiration, Joe decided to leave the UK and travel. From Vietnam, across Asia, onto Australia, and then Sri Lanka, he immersed himself in new cultures, landscapes and creative communities; the places, people, and wildlife he encountered helped shape the incredible direction his work has taken.

Blending Abstraction with Emotion

Joe’s work is set apart by the way he fuses abstract movement with carefully placed realism. With energetic splashes, sweeping lines and textured layers, he creates an amazing sense of motion, while the animal subject emerges through this chaos, powerful and full of character.

Looking closer, you’ll see that the true focal point of his work is always the eyes. Joe refers to them as the “crown jewel” of each piece, often embedding a subtle silhouette of the animal within them. It’s details like this that create such a strong, but intimate, connection, drawing the viewer in to discover a moment of quiet reflection amid the explosion of colour.

Unusual Tools, Unique Results

Continually evolving, Joe’s experimental approach sees him continually exploring new ideas and techniques. Using unconventional tools — from spoons and nails to rubber and scalpels — he builds layers of depth and contrast that won’t ever be repeated. Every flick of the wrist and sweep of the arm is spontaneous, ensuring no two artworks are ever the same.

It certainly feels like this unpredictability is part of the magic. Each piece captures a moment of energy and emotion, frozen in time, allowing the viewer to draw their own interpretation.

Wildlife Art with Contemporary Impact

Now based in Leeds, Joe’s work has gained both national and international recognition, attracting collectors who are drawn to its vibrancy, boldness, and emotional pull.

Whether displayed as a statement piece or as part of a wider collection, Joe Galindo’s art brings energy, warmth and personality into any space — perfect for those who love contemporary animal art with a modern edge.
