Artist Spotlight: Kimberley Harris – Capturing Light in the British Landscape

Kimberley Harris - A Moment in Time

Are you, like us, drawn to artists who can transport you somewhere else entirely? Because Kimberley Harris does exactly that.

Her vibrant, textured landscapes celebrate the beauty of the British countryside; moments of brilliance, atmosphere and movement that are equally captivating and calming. An incredible artist, she uses bold colour and expressive mark-making for landscapes that are truly moving.

Inspired by the Countryside and Turner

Inspired by the Countryside and Turner

One of Kimberley’s earliest artistic memories is visiting a Turner exhibition at the Tate Gallery with her father; an event that left a lasting impression. Inspired by Turner’s use of light and colour, even at that young age, she says she knew painting would be her path. She gained a Diploma in Art & Design in 2005, with her creative journey continuing to evolve, shaped by both her study and lived experience.

Growing up surrounded by the Suffolk countryside, Kimberley has developed a deep connection to the landscapes she paints. From sweeping meadows and dramatic skies to quiet, atmospheric corners of rural Britain, she creates scenes in which it’s easy to get lost.

Using the Right Tools for the Job

Visitors to the gallery tell us it’s the rich texture and sense of movement that draws them into Kimberley’s artworks. Working primarily with oils and a palette knife, she builds her paintings through careful layers, blending and sculpting the surface to create depth and energy.

With these techniques, she is able to play with tone, texture and light simultaneously. Vivid skies glow with drama, fields ripple with movement, and surprising perspectives draw you into the heart of the scene, making each artwork feel alive and changeable.

Emotion, Atmosphere and Escape

Emotion, Atmosphere and Escape

While Kimberley’s landscapes are rooted in real places, the power of the emotions they evoke is just as important as the scene itself. With a use of colour that gives each piece its own sense of calm, positivity and escapism, we can also see how she uses light and shadow together to shape the mood of the painting, altogether creating magical moments for us to enjoy.

Kimberley’s work is widely collected across the UK, the USA, and Australia; whether original works or limited-edition prints, these are stunning contemporary English landscape paintings.

We’re delighted to have Kimberley Harris’ work here at The Rose Gallery, where her paintings can be truly appreciated for all their texture, colour and detail. Whether you’re looking for a bold statement piece or a calming landscape to complete a space, her collection offers something special and our friendly team is right here to help you explore the collection and find a piece for you.
