Dean Kendrick

Dean Kendrick is a British contemporary artist whose creations blend classical sculpture traditions with a dynamic capture of energy and emotion. Whether focusing on wildlife or monumental figures, his works serve as three-dimensional storytellers, conveying powerful narratives through art. He drew inspiration from nature, innovation, and classical sculpture, particularly admiring artists such as Edgar Degas for his "ability to bring a natural form to life in bronze," and Leonardo da Vinci for his "anatomical accuracy and mechanical brilliance."

Before beginning a new piece, Dean conducts extensive research, creating mood boards, anatomical sketches, maquettes, and concept renders. He uses traditional bronze casting methods, including lost wax casting, and finishes each sculpture with a rich patina and protective wax.

Dean describes his style as a fusion of stylized realism, emphasizing detail, movement, and form. His work engages viewers from various angles, offering dynamic, expressive pieces designed to evoke emotion, inspire, and leave a lasting impression, showcasing his commitment to crafting exceptional art.

Born in 1970 in Birmingham, Dean began his artistic journey in the late 1980s and now works from his studio in Stratford-upon-Avon. His paintings and sculptures have been showcased in various exhibitions and galleries. With numerous private commissions, his work is now part of collections around the world and is featured in large-scale public installations. Dean’s designs have also been incorporated into film, virtual experiences, and theatre, including exhibitions and performances with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Additionally, he has crafted bespoke pieces for ‘Wild in Art’ charity events to support a range of worthy causes.
