Sophie Louise White is celebrated for her contemporary wildlife sculptures, renowned for capturing the true essence and spirit of her subjects. Regardless of scale, her work is defined by a graceful harmony of movement, elegance, and poised expression. With a keen understanding of animal anatomy and a focus on form and function, Sophie expertly manipulates her materials to create her distinctive and refined sculptural style.
Raised on a rare breeds farm in Kent, Sophie had the unique opportunity to closely observe animals from an early age. This deep, instinctive connection to the natural world has shaped her artistic vision, giving her a profound understanding of the unique traits and forms of each species she sculpts. Now based in rural Hampshire, she continues to draw inspiration from the surrounding wildlife. Sophie works primarily in clay, soft wax, and occasionally plaster, before casting each piece in Bronze or Silver using the traditional Lost Wax method.
After earning a First Class Honours degree in Figurative Sculpture from the University of the Arts London, Sophie completed a residency at a prestigious bronze foundry in Hampshire. This experience enriched her technical knowledge and enhanced her ability to translate her subjects into sculpture with confidence and precision. Sophie often applies patinas to her pieces herself, carefully selecting finishes that complement both the subject and the surface, adding depth and individuality to each work.
Her refined interpretation of the animal form, combined with her artistic sensitivity, has earned her widespread recognition. Today, Sophie Louise White’s sculptures and bespoke commissions are sought after by collectors across the globe.
