Catherine’s grandmother was 93 when she passed away, leaving behind a lifetime of joyful memories. Known for her spirited independence, she insisted on chopping her own wood well into her later years, eventually using a chainsaw, despite her family's concerns. To honour her vibrant life, the family chose to use her inheritance to commission a unique artwork celebrating her legacy.

The Process
The whole family visited The Rose Gallery during a Craig Alan event, where they met the artist and felt he was the perfect choice for this meaningful commission. After hearing stories about their grandmother, Craig suggested including a stencil of her with her iconic chainsaw, a fitting tribute to her bold and unforgettable spirit.
The Rose Gallery team worked closely with the family and Craig Alan to personalise the artwork within budget, continuing discussions after the event. The family provided photos and gave Craig creative freedom to add colour and flair. He placed their grandmother in Atlanta, his hometown, on a map-inspired piece, symbolising their connection. US and UK flags were included to honour her legacy and deepen the story behind the commission.
The project took 12 months due to its size and complexity, but Catherine and her family are thrilled with the result. Collaborating with Craig Alan made the experience even more meaningful, and the finished piece is a lasting tribute to their beloved grandmother, one the family will treasure forever.
