Francisco Bartus is a Spanish painter whose artistic vocation was recognised early in life. Encouraged by his school teachers to pursue art, he completed his formal education and began his professional career as a designer and plastic artist.
In the first stage of his career, Bartus focused primarily on still life, applying a modern visual language and innovative techniques. These works were enthusiastically received by galleries and collectors, establishing his reputation for technical skill and contemporary sensitivity.
Influenced later by the ideas of Carl Jung, Bartus shifted his artistic direction toward a more conceptual and symbolic exploration of the human condition. He sought to express, through vibrant colour and dynamic composition, the notion that many of our deepest emotions are not solely shaped by individual experience, but are also inherited and embedded within a collective human unconscious. From this philosophical foundation, Bartus developed a distinctive and highly recognisable style.
His work is characterised by the use of mixed media and layered paint applications that create remarkable depth and a striking three-dimensional effect. By combining diverse materials, powerful pictorial techniques, and fresh conceptual approaches, Bartus produces innovative and visually compelling pieces that stand apart for their intensity and originality.
Bartus has exhibited widely in the United States, particularly in Florida, California, and New York, as well as across Europe, including France, Spain, Germany, and Switzerland.
