Case Study: Transforming Precious Memories Into Art That Lasts a Lifetime

Jackie’s Story

Some memories are too special to stay on your camera roll, or even print.

For Jackie and her family, an extraordinary fishing trip in the crystal-clear waters of Mauritius was one of those - a story that will continue to be remembered and retold over and over.

A Treasured Moment, a Timeless Piece

The family trip to Mauritius was always going to create wonderful memories, but no one could have imagined the unforgettable experience of reeling in an incredible 60lb yellowfin tuna on those breathtaking waters.

Jackie’s boys had made a once-in-a-lifetime catch that
instantly became part of family history. Snapped on the camera, she thought this would be enough, but while the photo on the sideboard was admired, Jackie said it was soon clear that more was needed “We wanted something more lasting, something with soul.”

The photo couldn’t capture the scale or presence, it certainly couldn’t reflect the moment itself - the excitement, pride, disbelief, and joy of the experience.

That’s when Dinah introduced the family to Ben Jeffery, “an artist whose talent instantly gave us confidence that this memory could be transformed into something extraordinary” Jackie told us.

Working from the original photograph, Ben created a stunning original painting using acrylic and oil on board, finished with metallic silver highlights that subtly catch the light and bring movement to the piece.

Beautifully balancing realism with artistry, Ben’s turquoise sea ripples gently behind the trio, while the reflective tones of the fish and shimmering highlights bring a sense of life and energy to the scene.

As Jackie says, “The painting doesn’t just recreate the scene; it brings it to life in a way that feels even more vivid than the original moment. Every time we look at it, we’re transported right back to that day on the water.”

"It’s a constant reminder of an unforgettable adventure, beautifully preserved in art."
